Clean up credit report ratings
Your credit report has a very long lasting affect one your credit aspect if you wish to take a loan for house, car or anything worthwhile. A bad or negative credit report can make it impossible for you to take any loan. Therefore it is important that you know your credit report and clean up the discrepancies.
Get the copies of your credit reports from all the three credit bureaus. You are entitle one free copy from each once a year.
If you find any negative item on your credit report which you think is incorrect, send a letter to the concerned credit bureau.
If within thirty days the credit bureau doesn’t find the claim proof from the credit company, then the item will be removed from your credit report.
If there is any negative items on the credit report which is correct, that can also be removed from the credit report if you write a letter of request to the credit company.
The negative items remain on credit report only for seven years after which they are removed automatically. If declared bankruptcy, the information remains for a longer duration on your credit report.
